Weekend Trip: A Holiday-Themed Retreat to Monterey

Weekend Trip: A Holiday-Themed Retreat to Monterey

After spending a week in Mexico last month, I was fortunate enough to spend another weekend at the beach along the central California coast. A close friend and I drove south from the Bay Area for a less than 48 hour jaunt to Monterey and its surrounding coastal towns. I had never visited the region during such a traditionally cold month, but the sandy destination ended up being a wonderful spot to retreat to in December. We were greeted with clear blue skies and even dipped our toes into the fresh Pacific water. From holiday festivities along the Monterey wharf to a monarch butterflies viewing in Pacific Grove, the Monterey region is a great destination during the cold season. If you’re looking for things to do along the central coast in fall/winter, keep reading to see what we managed to pack into our retreat to Monterey and beyond.

Girls Getaway to Mexico: 5 Days in Puerto Vallarta

Our girls getaway to Mexico had some hilarious moments and was a really well-rounded trip – we got to relax, take in Puerto Vallarta’s colorful sights, and experience its lively nightlife scene. This marked my third friends/girls trip of the year, and boy did it get off to a rocky start though. 8 Travel Bloggers Share Their Craziest Travel Stories (Part 1)

If you’ve ever traveled abroad, chances are you’ve found yourself in some pretty uncomfortable or hilarious situations. If you haven’t – consider yourself lucky! However, one thing is for sure – they always end up making some pretty great stories. I’ve personally been lost on the rugged streets of small-town Costa Rica, almost stranded at a gas station in Bali when we thought our motorbike broke down, and have run into a Scottish friend in Barcelona who I hadn’t seen in 7 years since we first met in Costa Rica. There was also that time I was stranded in the cow country and drove through the night with 3 complete strangers. Travel will test you and help create some of the most memorable experiences. Because of this, I have asked fellow travel bloggers to share their craziest travel stories. From a full frontal massage along the Silk Road to getting completely lost in the Balkans, each of these stories are highly entertaining.
